Exhibition "Medieval Treasures from the Cleveland Museum of Art" at the Frist (Nashville, Tennessee) through June 7, 2009

The Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, houses one of the finest encyclopedic collections in the United States (database of the objects in the collections). It is particularly renowned for its Early Christian, Byzantine, and medieval European Art, including rare ivories, enamels, metalwork, sculpture, paintings, and illuminated manuscripts from the third through the sixteenth century. The museum is currently undergoing a large-scale renovation and expansion, which allows the first traveling exhibition to showcase a significant number of masterpieces. Presenting more than one hundred objects in a variety of media, this exhibition offers an unprecedented opportunity for Southern audiences to view these extraordinary treasures outside Cleveland.
