University of South Carolina - Assistant Professor Ancient / Late Antique History of the Mediterranean basin

The History Department at the University of South Carolina seeks to fill a tenure-track assistant professorship in the Ancient / Late Antique History of the Mediterranean basin to begin August 16, 2010. The research specialty is open, but the Department has particular interest in ethnicity, civil / human rights, economic development, religion, gender, and the environment. The successful applicant will teach a 2/2 load, including a survey of Western Civilization.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment, a strong research agenda, and classroom experience. Please submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, sample of published or unpublished work, and three letters of recommendation to Kathryn A.
