Cornell University - Visiting Assistant Professor in Judaism in late antiquity and/or the medieval period, Fall 2010



Cornell University, Department of Near Eastern Studies invites applications for a one-year replacement position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in Judaism in late antiquity and/or the medieval period. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to teach a total of four courses (two per semester) in at least two of the following areas : Judaism in the late-ancient Near East ; Rabbinic literature ; comparative Judaic-Islamic traditions ; material culture and ancient-medieval Judaism ; Judaism and "Mediterraneanism" ; Rabbinic Hebrew and Aramaic. A Ph.D. by June 30, 2010 is required and experience in teaching strongly encouraged.
